Friday, November 10 | 9:00 am - Noon Our Set Free Roc team partners with RRCAHT (Rochester Regional Coaltion on Human Trafficking) and Miss Julia's School of Beauty. Miss Julia is committed to training women in cosmetology so that they can stand on their own feet and find freedom. On Friday, November 10 from 9:00 am to noon, Miss Julie's School of Beauty will host safeTALK Suicide Prevention Training. safeTALK is a community suicide prevention training that is taught by the New York State Office of Mental Health. The safeTALK curriculum teaches people to recognize warning signs of suicide, how to discuss their concerns with the suicidal person, how to connect someone who is suicidal to appropriate resources, and how to keep them safe in the short term. It is open to anyone with any background who is age 15 or older. Formal mental health training is not required. Since suicide is a leading cause of death in young people and a significant cause of death on other age brackets, these are important skills for everyone in our community to possess. There are still a few spots available. If you are interested in taking the class, email Miss Julia here.
